The online anime alphabet game

What is the anime alphabet game?

The anime alphabet game takes the classic "name something for each letter" party game and gives every letter one job: name an anime or manga whose title starts with it. AniBattle turns it into a real-time duel — ten letters per round, a three-minute clock, and an opponent (human or AI) searching at the same time as you.

The goal is not only to fill the grid: it is to fill it faster and with rarer titles than your opponent, to score more points.

A concrete example

Say a round gives you the letters A, B, D, F and N. You could validate: A → Akira, B → Berserk, D → Death Note, F → Fullmetal Alchemist, N → Naruto. Each accepted title locks its cell and scores points based on how rare it is.

A very famous title scores little; a niche one scores big. Naming "Dandelion" instead of "Death Note" on the letter D can make the difference — if you know it, and if you type it before your opponent, because every validated anime is then banned for both players.

How it differs from the classic game

The paper version is turn-based and hand-scored. AniBattle is real-time and server-refereed: validation is instant, duplicates are caught, and the score factors in rarity and speed. Bonus letters grant extra points under conditions (movie, aired before 2010, shōnen…), and twists like the rush (−30s off your opponent’s clock) or sudden death keep every round tense.

Solo, 1v1 and multiplayer

You can play alone against a four-level AI to practice, challenge a friend with a private room code, or use quick match to be paired with another player automatically. Every duel is a best-of-3: the first to win two rounds takes the match.

Rarity points

Rarity comes from each title's real popularity (AniList database): the more popular a title, the less it is worth, from 50 to 300 points. This rewards deep anime knowledge, not just the big classics everyone names first.
